Where Have all the Fishies Gone?

I always wanted to take my parents for a quick holiday get-away. Well, I was initially planning to take them to the laguna tour, but my dad slipped that the ocean park must be nicer than the underwater world…Hint Hint: He wanted to go to Hongkong. So, it took me 3 days to finalize the booking, intinerary and nag my dad to renew his passport.

After checking in to the hotel we went straight ahead to ocean park.

There, we realize that going there in summer break is not exactly a good idea, crowded and the heat will just melt your fat away.
I digress, the cable car is really a fascinating ride: long and winding, both me and dad got scared ,only my mum keeps shifting position and chairs.Since she owns a lot of mass, we need to plead for our dear life to stay put.

When we got there, there are lots of panda statues that I already felt compelled to take a pic of them

These are from the Dolphin Show:I wouldn’t mind volunteering …as moby dick mweheheh

The seal here is trying to resuscitate the trainer

Look who is having fun….And I saw mummy kissing the clown *gasp*

Next we went to the Avenue of the Stars,to eat dinner, watch the laser show and more pictorial:

Nameless Lonely Weirdo Blue

Tinaya ako ni Jowe ^_^

Rules Rules Rules:

Each player of this game starts with 6 weird things about themselves. People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 6 weird things as well and state the rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says you are tagged in their comments and tell them to read your blog.

Now, this is fairly difficult for me, i mean list weird things? and only 6 of them...anyway let's try....

The List:

1. Date Cemetery - If you want to impress me about a place , bring me to the nearest cemetery (in daylight!). I am not into gothic stuff, neither do i have a death wish. No, i don't want to visit anyone there, but i guess the eerines, solemnity and architecture appeals me. Yes, architecture, I feast my eyes on Mausoleums, shapes of crypts or the statuettes beside it (gargoyles/angel/weeping person). Additionally, i enjoy getting a dose of literature by reading on the epithets.

2. One Pillow To rule them all - yeh, yeh if others have their fave blanky, i have my fave pillow. It has been my pillow since 5 years old. Very old and fluffiness all gone, but it makes me feel better whenever i hug this pillow. In travel,I bring my pillow whenever i have to stay in another place for more than 7 nights. I rather pay for the excess baggage than to leave my lovely pillow behind.

3. Spaghetti Song - While majority of the kids goes ga-ga over spaghetti (ex: Qstn: Ano gusto mo sa Jollibee? Ans: Spagetti!/Stapegi!/Spagegi!), until i was 18 years old i only ate spaghetti once. And that one time was during my 7th birthday, in which after a few mins i puke it on the floor. So how do i eat my spaghetti? Just the pasta and cheese. No sauce. I do eat spaghetti now, but i prefer my spaghetti sans sauce.

4. Scary Movie Alone - When i was in Manila, i always watch asian horror flicks in cinema alone. No, i don't watch it on cinema primetime, which is from 12nn - close. I watch it on the first scheduled time, just to make sure that am watching it with few people. I watched the Grudge, Grudge 2, Eye, Wishing STeps, Dark Waters,Bangkok Haunted, Three , etc , etc alone. For the Ring Series, i watched it on my CD player, again alone but night time. For some reason, when i started my work outside Phils, i become a scaredy cat and i don't dare watch scary movies alone.Non-scary movie, yes i can still watch them on my own.

5. The mushroom who shouts at the Sun - While some people gets pumped out with a sunny day, getting uber jolly and hyper chirpy, i grumble. I don't like rain nor wind , i always get soaked and chilly. I prefer cloudy days, dark clouds hanging specifically. I prefer the moon than the sun, so i guees you can call me a moonie. mwehehehe.ANd yes, i prefer visiting castles than going to beach .

6. The Fellowship of the Four Eyes - I have certain fondness for people who wears glasses. I dunno, maybe it makes them look smart for me mwhehehehe. WHen i was a kid, i was wishing so hard that i will wear them as well, and i did under the name of Astigmatism.

Awwww the 6 is up already, but i always like the unwritten rule: Screw the rule.

7. The Empty Notebook - Ilike buying notebooks, but i seldom use them. I like the smell and feel of paper. In the end, i gave it all to my mum to use.

8. Smooth Spine Book - Check all my paperbacks (except textbooks) all of them do not have a 'wrinkle' on the spine. I am very particular about this that i read my books while 'slightly' opening it. If you spotted a wrinkle, that book is loaned to a friend.

9. i think i saw that before - i experience deja vu, but not life altering ones. Now ,if only i get a deja vu on knowing the winning lotter number.

10. Don't yah dare pull that hair - As per this writting, i have 4 white hairs in my head and i don't want anyone pulling them out for whatever reasons.

Okay, i need my energy to tag people:Iya, Kayan, Rinka, Nina, Donyah and PapaBEar hahahaha

Chili D and Chili A answers are out already, now waiting for Chili Ey and F

Murmurs Mumblings - My Thoughts

conversation with myself, rants, and more mumblings

Aerofort

Natapos ang aking krayola 64 colors ko para sa aking mudra. It seems my life is back to its track again, i planned to spend it well with my friends (at least 2 weeks), but i guess fate have a weird sense of humor, i got an update and I was left with 4.5 days to stay with my friends. The whole thing didn't sinked in until i was talking to Chili F. 5 days to go, aside from the packing, i badly wanted to see my friends again.Fortunately, the 'slumber chili' was already on set prior to that news.
On the Slumber session we had some glasses of wines, ilong-sized hotdogs (buti na lang bumili ng yelo sina Chili D and F, nakadami kami mweheheh) , Eden singles cheese (ang cheese para sa singles - kurneh!) and lots of kwentos cum okrayan. We then had an introduction of the second school of pouting :P. CHili Ey. floored us again on
this area (Au Naturelle !). The next day, i was off to another appointment (with chili Ey) so i kissed everyone, goodbye. At this point, i was already trying to 'toughen' up, i nearly forbid them to contact me until my departure time, because there is one thing that keeps screaming on mind: "Sobrang mamimiss ko mga ungas na ito!"
Okay, drop the ungas part, but back then i felt that someone is digging a hole in my soul.

After my day appointment with another True Bading friend, chili Ey said he will introduce me to Botak Jones, in which in turn I invited my housemate L as well (L goes along quite well with Chilis, true babaeng bakla). And well, i met some people 'passing by' there as well, Chili D and F (i wanted to pull their skirt off!) ANother
friend, Donyah came in (who is also 'passing by'), she is still "chubby" and she got an A+ for pouting lesson. It didn't end there, i got a 'phone in' greeting from Pechay (dumadaan lang din daw sya :p ). LAstly, the "muse", chili A, dropped by. Akalain mo, lahat sila napadaan lang? And here i thought that i will survive the night scotts free...but nooooooooooooooo!
One, i got a gift from Donyah (sobrang nakakatouch ang cap na yun dahling, dala ko pa nga eh)Secondly, Chili D gave me a special mail and bebeber mweheheh, (Thanks hija!)Finally, the handing off the green clearance book....I nearly choked on the contents (Hint: Celia Rodriguez, fireworks and policeman) but this is something i will always carry around. (Actually, sha ang una ko inempake kesa sa passport ko chux!) and i will hold tighly on it, lest i want to show 'scam' photos mwehehehe.
I keep complaining that they only told me about the Botak Jones on my last night (steak is really good), but actually grateful taht they manage to sneak off a send-off dinner.

On, the day of my departure, everything is chaotic again ( i rushed 7 am to MUstafa to buy a big luggage), panic level is high and all my stuff seems to bulge everywhere. again, my beloved housemate L helped me fix my stuff, she even took a half-day off :(While, setting all my stuffs, i started mumbling my mantra "NDE AKO IIYAK! NDE AKO IIYAK! WALA NA AKONG CRAYOLA ESTE LUHA".3.5 hours before departure, i checked in my luggage, the excess weight is worth a round trip ticket to India (>.<) , housemate L and her partner Z drove me to the airport, housemate P went to the airport to send-me off as well. All the chilis were also there. I felt the hole inside me gets bigger and bigger by the minute. L, Z and P needs to go, my first wall crumbled down and i kept hugging them. P scolded me for being a crybaby. But after a proposal to eat Popeye for dinner, i stopped crying. (Fried chicken lang pala katapat).

5 chilis and 8 chicken , how do we split that? nah! no lines, we eat around, trade more okrayan and last minute chicka updates. Time came to go to the boarding station, I couldn't be bothered that i don't have sunglasses to hide my eyes, i couldn't be bothered if it's so jologs and passe to cry at the airport, i couldn't be bothered if i got labeled as a big cry baby.It was really, really a sad and difficult moment for me. One by one , hugged my good buddies. It's not really a goodbye but to be in a far location and different time zone is another thing. The immigration was about to ask me something, but seeing tears running in my face kept silent instead.

I called my family again to assure them everything will be okay.By the time i finished talking to them, i was already boarding on the plane, i sent SMS to my friends and managed to call Chili F,but the stewardess is not happy seeing me talking to the phone, i didn't dare answered Chili A's call. While the plane was taxiing till take-off , i was still busy dabbing my cheeks, the notion of having a cute seatmate did not consoled me. While watching a video, someone might have thought it was a drama movie as i was busy sniffing my nose, actually i was watching blades of glory (nyeks diba)I couldn't sleep as I couldn't breathe, it feels like there is a hundred bricks lying on top of my chest (no smarty pant comments here, okay!)
One could ask, why bother going if the whole thing will make you sad and lonely. Chili Ey already answered that question: It's an option. AN opportunity. WIth so many things going around, it's seldom for a person to stay put. We have accepted the fact that we will soon be geographically separated, mine just came in too soon. Albeit, the pending separation, we still continue to make the most of each other's company. We allot time for catch-up. We even made a private joke about 'Wish you were here' postcards.I have no regret that i let myself be too close, expose my self to the point of vulnerability on these people, because i know it's worth it. it's something akin on how a slight movement can make ripples on the water, they made waves.

As i look blankly on the sky, i know that i left something behind for my friends: a belief. Believe that even if we grow apart we will never drift from each other.

Paliparan

Murmurs Mumblings - My Thoughts

conversation with myself, rants, and more mumblings

Paliparan

I like riding planes. I like the 'change of pressure' feeling of taking off. i like the buzzing sound of the plane in my machine. I like viewing in the window , be it blinding white clouds or pitch black sky.

But...

I suck at airport scenes. Whenever, i am at the airport an internal cinema in my mind stats to reel -off,showcasing all the highlights in my life so far (i know,it sounds spooky, but rest assured that i don't see a tunnel of light). Then, i will start feeling nostalgic.Subconsciously, (probably) this is the reason that i seldom go back to Manila for a visit (primary reason would still be i am too stingy).

Three.Three airport scenes reduced mushroom me to tears.

Flight #5J804 Cebu Pacific: Singapore to Manila
Preparation of stuffs to take back to Manila is chaotic as per normal. This time i need to squeeze more stuffs since i need to bring home everything now. (please
imagine squeezing teacups, stuff toys and books in a 20kilos quota)
I'm very relieved and grateful to my housemate L and her partner for volunteering to take me to the airport, i already felt 'harassed' with the preparation and not sure if i have enough energy to hail a cab.
As an added bonus, three of my close friends, (close as in closeta..chux!) were also there to send me of:Chilis Ey, F, and D. When they saw my luggages, i say they fall in awe. :p especially my hand-carry bag.(it nearly broke my shoulder) I even have the gall to bet that i will only have 3 kilos excess. The clerk said it was 14 kilos, i retorted that is my body's excess kilos. Oh well...

since, we still have a few hours to kill we started to draft the proposed 'chili bases'. Me will be in Bono land, Ey will be in the big apple, F will be in the kiwis, D willbe in Borubudur and beloved A will stay in beloved *toot*

Afterwhich, we did some 'tasty food' sighting in the hallway (read: maghanap ng malinamnam na lalaki) and as expected, we all ended saying 'puro bilasa naman yan'
We then proceeded to okarayan, this time we make okray on the people saying goodbye before entering the immigration section. Most of those who cried were couples, to which i haughtily say, 'See! maghihiwalay din kayo, jowa jowa pa kasi' ...please pass the ampalaya.

Then, it's my time to stand up and proceed to the immig as well...while giving the customary beso beso, with a wry smile, tears started forming in my eyes.

Chili F is correct in saying that the sadness i felt is partially because i will be leaving SG as my working place.

What i didn't admit in front of them is that i am starting to miss their company and i really can't help crying about it.So off i go to my night plane without sleeping a wink and busy dabbing my cheeks.

Flight #234 JetStar: Manila to Singapore
At my age, stories of having some falling off with parents is very common. What is more common is the complaint of parents starting to be so 'makulit' of everything. Imagine hauling 2 'kids' in a out of country holiday, with spurs of 'tampo-tampo' moment. Actually,it would have been easier for me if they were just really kids.

Fast forward, me and family in NAIA to send me off.My 'yaya-yaya's eyes started turning red, in this case,i have to hold myself back and started consoling her. My
dad is a 'stage dad', he always have to take photo of me pushing the trolley and demands a kiss on the cheek before going. He said that he will not show any dramatics as he remember that when i was still a kid,(he was working in saudi) instead of waving goodbye and crying, i was smiling and giving him a shooing wave. Duh! Sayang kaya dollars! chux!

I then peered on my mum's eyes, i felt relieved that her face looks clear. Mum is emo on these kind of things.Whenever, anyone in the family leaves, she was always crying at the airport. I remember the time that my sis left for singapore for work, it was on the same date that Erap got ousted in Malacanang. My mum cried seeing the telecast of departure of Erap. Ngek diba?

So, off i go i thought everything seems to be okay now. Then, my mother rang, her voice was cracking, and in a loud sob she said:
"Anak, nakalimutan mo yung monay".

in context, it really sounds so hilarious, but on that time it was a poignant statement Mum felt bad that i was going off somewhere farther, despite my promise that i will try to visit frequently (which she quicky retorts,"sa singapore pa nga lang once a year ka lang umuwi sa kakunatan eh pano nayan masmalayo na!).

Good thing, she cannot see me despite my calm voice my tears were streaking madly on the floor. It really breaks me to hear my mum crying...

Holy Chili

the 119 years old National Museum opened its doors to the public after a 3 years restoration. The architectural renovation of the museum offers a refreshing way of presenting history. A month long of vibrant festival was held to celebrate the opening.

The opening celebration kicks off with UK group Avati Display presentation of the “Spurting Man”. The unequal relationship between the specialty performer , ‘Spurting Man’ and the undervalues assistant lays the basis of a series of comic interaction. With each trick of the Spurting man, showcases a display of dancing water and burst of colorful lights. The finale takes place with a finally crowned performer on top f his pedestal, water cascading from his body.

Amozozo, a huge plastic structure, inspired by Islamic architecture creates a unique ambiance of light and color, blending softly into the faces of the crowd.

No one should miss this cute expression on the baby merlion face

"Seed" is one of the permanent installation by the museum , a sculpture made from an excavated material, seed like in form

promising many possibilities and growth

"transformation" 60 stainless steel tubes of different lengths and diameters offering transformation possibilities in space

"Loft"... tango...boogie...choreography in mid air

Personaly, this tops all the spectacle

Appreciating art is good, appreciating it with your buddies is better ;)

What I Learned In Food Poisoning

Murmurs Mumblings - My Thoughts

conversation with myself, rants, and more mumblings

What I Learned In Food Poisoning

Lesson 1: Good friends will stick to you thru thick and thin

“Alagaan mo sarili mo dahil mag-isa ka lang dyan” my mum said many times, True, being in a another country no one will look after you in case you got sick. And when I am sick, I really, really get lonely. There was a time I was high with fever , I cried for my mum in my sleep. Yes, I am such a crybaby. Last week another ailment hits me, I got a bad case of food poisoning. My tummy was searing with pain , I threw up so many times and frequent trips to the toilet. The pain was intolerable that even after the doctor jabbed me twice with a painkiller I was still crawling in pain.
Then out of grogginess cum loneliness, I called a friend, unwittingly I whine (umatungal actually) about the pain and even ask if she can include me in her prayer. After hanging up the phone I fainted. After a few minutes, friend called back again, without any qualms she took a cab and she was going to my place to check me and rush me to the hospital. It was 3PM on a weekday. She is still at work and yet sensing my helplessness she rushed by my side. (After which I cried and cried like a loony in front of her). My friend, had seen the worse and the worst side of me and yet she sticks with me.

Lesson 2: Sometimes a phone call will make your day
Somewhere in between of contemplating loneliness, rushing to the toilet and crumpling in pain, just when you are about to go to the ‘dark’ side, your phone will ring up and a friendly voice will pull you from reality. My hunk/geek/nurse friend called me up and pulled my sanity that was slowly drifting away. Along with his witty remarks, he made me look onto some things on a more practical perspective…yun nga lang sabay hirit, “magkajowa na kasi eh!”

Although, I can barely walk I was still insisting to him that we should proceed with the Chili Stargazing project for the next day. All of us have a tight schedule and we have been planning this for weeks. I will definitely feel bad if it didn’t push thru. Well, actually the stargazing didn’t pushed through but instead there’s “wine/cheese discussion cum visit the bummed tummy” on my place the next day. Which leads to lesson num 3

Lesson 3: Great friends make small guilt
Madamot ako sa oras. I want to follow my schedule strictly, especially if I already set my heart on it. I easily feel disappointed if after some days of planning an event, suddenly it will get cancelled. The same thing with the stargazing, I was looking forward for it. Heck, I even already prepared the picnic basket and decided on the wines that I will bring. So I was really pissed on the bad timing for my tummy to revolt against my body system. Also, I will definitely feel guilty. BIhira na nga holiday, na cancel pa dahil sa tyan! Pwe!
But my friends with just a simple statement as “Masakit tyan ni Aoisoba, kaya duon na lang tayo sa place nya magmeet, and just like that they all agreed to go to my place. Eh kung ako yan mag-iinarte pa ako eh! Pano na picnic basket ko?!
Pero sabi ko nga with these people: no guilt and no explanations needed. (at msarap ang dala nilang “water of life” )

So on adding lesson 1, 2 and 3, we will get lesson 4 (which I also learned from my friend)

Lesson 4: One of the things you need when growing old: close friends
Just when you are at worst and all wrinkly they are the ones that will still continue to stick by your side.
True, it’s too early to say that we will stick with each other forever and ever. But personally, I am just happy that we managed to knock on each other’s lives and made a ripple of memories that we can always look back.

Oh and yeah…

Lesson 5 Never eat seafood dish at night, unless you are 100 % sure it is fresh

Nyak. Actually may lesson 6 pa regarding taking a jab….ask me personally na lang :P
