The Land of 10,000 Temples

The Land of 10,000 Temples... Bali

Heaven is just a continuation of Bali ;P, this would gladly claim by some of the Balinese. Being a home to the vast majority of Indonesia's small Hindu minority, perhaps this is the reason why some 10,000 temples and shrines are tucked amid the island's serene landscape.

A holiday on this island wouldn't be complete without a visit to the temple. From there one can take a peek on the flow of religion diffusing soflt on the daily island life

Just for a quick escape from work, i took a 3 day holiday in Bali. Stayed in Bali Dynasty Hotel in Kuta, the interiors are nice and the staff are so friendly. From the hotel, it's only a 10 minutes walk to the Kuta Beach, and there i feasted my
eyes on the surfers i mean on the scenic view. (Okay people, personally i still prefer the beaches on the Pearl of the Orient)

Since it was only a short trip, my itinerary is also quite short, i managed to go to ride the glass bottom boat, go to the turtle island (again a real lesson not to forget thy slippers) to pose with the turtles, bat and a snake. And of course, a
visit to the island crafts village, the most famous one is Ubud. I went to the Batik workshop, woodcraft workshop and painting workshop. Geez, am such a sucker for this kind of this, i didn't went off the workshop without my wallet being unscathed *blush* I bought a painting in rice paper (>.<)

Oh yeah, i also made sure i stuffed myself with their native cuisines :)

Having a heavy heart.i lug my bags to the airport counter, i have yet to go to tanah lot and view the flourished beauty of the rice terrace. But hopefully, rather i will definitely go back to Bali again (paging: chili amigos muy amigas)

Still Standing

When taking pictures using the Ol' manual SLR (read: film) camera, the photographer had to take control of all the settings in the camera for the subject in the output picture will look well against the background. You have to control the aperture, the shutter speed, the ISO graininess and of course to focus on the subject. Except for the seasoned photographers, getting the combinations for all these setting can be too confusing and from time to time, you'll end up with frustrating results. Practice of course will definitely improves your skill. Or...you can get some 'help' thru technology. Such is the case of DigitalSLR,offering pre-programmed configurations to help you while you are busy fidlling with other settings. One case, you set the aperture and let the camera do the adjustment in shutter speed. PRoblem in setting the 'white' benchmark, there's the AWB. And for clueless the Auto-Pointand shoot mode is also available.

I run my life like a manual slr, i try to control all things in my life on my own: time, family affairs, budget, social affairs, career development, work habit, education and yes even my hair (Mantra: "hair straight out now!"). I tend to plan things 20 steps ahead to get the result that i want. Sometimes i get it, sometimes i don't.
Most of the times, no matter how detailed my plan there are these big variables: i cannot control other people, i cannot control my environment. And yes it is really frustrating and makes me wanna give up and slack.
My plate is just too full. I need help. I wanted to believe everything will still be alright. and that's where Faith comes in.

I pray to my Creator to enlighten me, to lend me strength and to give me grace. my Creator is like a pre-programmed configuration in cameras: we do the shots, He'll handle the settings. and voila, the picture will come out nicely.
It sounds trivial but i don't think i would still be able to appreciate everything that surruonds me now if He didn't helped me. PErhaps i would still be very busy fiddling on the "other knobs" of my life, that i would totally forgot to enjoy the the scenery.

Another Year

Another late post.

Question: How many hours are you willing to wait to take pictures of NY fireworks?

My answer is 7 hours. it may be an over kill, but heck i have my chips, my book, my ipod and my dinner with me...oh and i even have enough for breakfast hahahah.Actually, i even have to go back to my flat because i forgot my tripod. Yup, i have my "survival" accesories but not my tripod.

I don't like my shots here, but oh well i'll just post as a memento of the 7 hours of erupting varicose veins.

- Playing again with my camera

- Just as it was about to begin , we realized we are looking on the wrong direction (~_~)
