Memories of Etches

Aug 2006, for me, marks the passage of time. This time i busied myself to my long neglected hobby: taking pictures.
Compared to others, my photos are very simple if not passe, but to me it holds some of my thoughts during the time i took it.
Anyway, enap of the serious stuff and i won't dwelve on it either.

Me and a fellow shutterbug of mine, XveGGie (hullo meat eater!) went to the fireworks show. IT was a four day event thingie, every night one country will showcase their fireworks presentation. SInce the show always starts at 9 PM, i only managed to see only the last one. Nakakatamad manood knowing na may pasok kinabukasan :p
My friend told me that we should be at the one fullerton by 6PM, and i bellowed a "WHAT!!! THE SHOW STARTS AT 9?! WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO THERE!!!" (yes am very selfish with time). She just replied, we'll sit and stand by 9. I find this answer very annoying. To top it, i was carrying one powershot camera, one manual SLR, a separate flash, a tripod, packets of batteries and a saturday broad sheet news paper. At that point, carrying a newspaper became a very big deal to me, but for reasons i cannot disclose, i need to take the newspaper back home.
upon arriving on the loacation: Lo and behold!! it seems the whole place turned to picnic grounds: families set their 'territorial mats' complete with bottled drinks and snacks. My nerve is about to burst, even with a tripod, my camera won't be able to handle bobbing heads in the vision frame. Sporting a 'am so lost' look in our face we stared at our surroundings. it is then we saw an empty lot (still under construction i think). at first we hesitated as we might be slapped with trespassing suit, but upon the zooming of my friend's eyes, she saw one...two..no lots of tripod. Hmmmm! so we ran to the place. Yup the place is almost filled up with photo enthusiasts like us. It even looked like a camera exhibit. Even though it was very dark, muddy, and ants have a good feast on us,it gives our camera a good space.

Came 9 PM, i can only hear three sounds, the crackling of fireworks, occassional "ooohs" and clicking of cameras :)
We are all trying to get a good shot and i heard
some people saying like:
"Smile!" - note he is referring to the fireworks.
"Cheese!"
"Please stop there for a while!" - again refering to the fireworks in the sky
"wah I missed that shot!"
"Ack my batterries are running low!"

It was not an easy experience, but after a long time, i felt that am part of something, it seems the big diverse group have one aim:we're trying to preserve a memory. It is only then that i appreciate the people around me:'picnic' families with parents taking the time/effort to bring their kiddies to watch the show, teens spending a agood time hanging out and even yeh the shutterbugs. This may be an overanalysis, but in thelong run people will remember that they did watched the show and who are they with.
